City Museum acquired over 60,000 glass lantern slides from the former Image Library at The Metropolitan Museum of Art. A small selection of the collection is on view in the St. Louis Art Center.

City Museum is called City Museum for a reason. These are the reasons. A collection of historic St. Louis architecture is on the 3rd floor. The fourth floor showcases architect Louis Sullivan and features a section of the cornice from the Chicago Stock Exchange.

The center collects works by internationally renowned contemporary artists and murals by St. Louis based artists. KAWS, Do Ho Suh, Tony Cragg. Dustin Yellin, Pee White. Erwin Wurm, Thomas Heatherwick, Fnnch. See “Mayhem on Ice”, a stained glass piece depicting the St. Louis Blues.
